Have you ever wanted to know what your prospect was really thinking when they told you, “I just need a little bit of time to think it over”?

Did they really need a little space to think it over or did they have an objection that they just didn’t want to talk about?

Legitimate part of their decision making process or smokescreen?

If he does just need a little space and you push too far, you probably lose the sale and if it’s a smokescreen and you never flush out the true objection, then you’ll probably never hear from him again.

The ability to read your prospects in a way that allows you to know whether or not they are telling the truth can give you a serious advantage when it comes to overcoming objections and closing the sale.

And a good place to start is with your prospects eyes.

During the process of Richard Bandler and John Grinder designing the initial model of NLP, they discovered a key distinction in observing how we humans process language and filter the world through our five senses.

You’ve probably heard that the “eye’s are the window to the soul”, well the eye’s are also the window into how people process information, recall memories and they give clues into how they are predisposed to make decisions.

As you watch the video below, focus on where the people look and see if you can imagine them seeing a picture, listening to a voice, getting a feeling or seaching for words as they talk to themselves.

Great film. Did you enjoy the killer slow-mo and interesting people? Did you get a feel for how some of them where processing their information?

Could you hear them talking to themselves? Did you see how they looked up at the picture of a blue sky before they ask themselves ‘why it’s blue’?

The traditional NLP eye accessing cue model is not an absolute model, but it’s a good start in learning to communicate with greater levels of sophistication. The model says that when people look up, they are processing visually (remembering/constructing pictures). When people look to the side, they are processing auditorily (remembering/constructing sounds). When people look down, they are either feeling something kinesthetically or talking to themselves which is auditory digital.

Here are some Advanced Eye-Cue Strategies to help you close more sales:
